LAKE GLENBAWN The cool, clean water of this tranquil lake stretches along 20 winding kilometres on the upper reaches of the Hunter River through steep mountain foothills and lush pastoral country. The lake is up to 80 metres deep and contains more than double the water volume of Sydney Harbour.
The Lake Glenbawn State Park (adjacent to the Holiday Cottages) covers a large area of the Eastern and Southern foreshores and offers excellent amenities including a kiosk, boat hire, wide concrete boat ramp, extensive picnic and barbecue areas and tennis courts. Entry to the Park is free for Holiday Cottage guests. |

Each of the ten large family style cottages sleeps a maximum of 6 people in three spacious bedrooms - featuring a queen size bed in the main bedroom and 2 single beds in each of the other two bedrooms each is fitted with a doona, pillows and blankets. Fully self-contained, the kitchens are equipped with family sized fridge, stove, oven, microwave, electric fry pan, hot water jug, crockery and cutlery. Your own linen is the only household item you need to bring, but this can be supplied if requested in advance. Click on the various rooms to view a picture. All cottages have 2 or 3-way bathrooms. Laundries contain an automatic washing machine. A big living room (some air-conditioned) with T.V. and a separate dining area makes for comfortable, spacious living when relaxing after a busy day on the lake or touring the valley.
The Holiday Cottages are located on their own 22 acres of rolling lawns and adjacent to the State Park entrance. Large balconies are a feature of the cottages and plenty of secure parking for cars and boats. Two gas barbecue pits are located centrally within the cottage area and many more are available throughout the extensive picnic grounds on both sides of the lake.

Accepted as probably the best and most accessible Bass and Golden Perch fishery in NSW. Lake Glenbawn is regularly stocked with both popular species plus Silver Perch. In fact, Lake Glenbawn is the only major impoundment in NSW to be stocked with the much sought after Australian Bass. These hard hitting, brawling 'boomers' up to 56cms and 3-4 kilos are now attracting Bass fishing specialists from all over Australia. The prolific and giant Golden Perch (Yellowbelly) have been caught up to 15 kilos and 5-10 kilos are not uncommon. For variety, there are Silver Perch, huge Eel-tailed Catfish, and the occasional monster Murray Cod (when in season). All forms of fishing are permitted on the lake - boat trolling, spin casting, jigging, fly and bait fishing. Phone or fax to the Holiday Cottages for a copy of the Lake Glenbawn Fishing Map and guide. Fresh live yabby bait, lures and fishing tackle are available from the Holiday Cottages Office.
